Workforce Development Board
Acadiana Workforce Solutions serves as the one-stop delivery system in the region. Its purpose is to strengthen the workforce development system through innovation in, and alignment, and improvement of employment, training, and education programs by promoting individual and economic growth. The region is comprised of Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion Parishes. Local Workforce Development Board #40 is certified by Louisiana’s Governor as a local workforce development board, as required by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Public Law 113-128. LWDB #40 is one of 15 local workforce development boards in the State of Louisiana and services an eight-parish region.
Through a consortium agreement, eight Parish Presidents collaborate to ensure workforce development services are provided to citizens within the local area. The Local Workforce Development Board #40’s principal function, in collaboration with the Chief Elected Official and Parish Presidents, is to provide oversight and policy guidance of the workforce development system. Our Chief Elected Official is St. Landry Parish President, Mr. Jessie Bellard. St. Landry Parish Government also serves as the grant recipient and fiscal agent for the WIOA funds issued by Louisiana Workforce Commission.
Local Workforce Development Area #40 is provided oversight by the eight Parish Presidents through a consortium agreement. This agreement which outlines the roles and responsibilities of the parish presidents and the chief elected official allows the parish presidents and the CEO to collectively manage the workforce development funds and services provided throughout the region.
