Louisiana Local Workforce Development Area 40, known as Acadiana Workforce Solutions (AWS), comprising Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Vermilion, and Lafayette connects employers to a skilled workforce and helps individuals develop skills needed to thrive in the workplace. Under a consortium agreement executed in 2016, the eight Parish Presidents collaborated to ensure workforce development services are provided to citizens within the local area.

Local Workforce Development Board #40 collaborates with the Chief Elected Official and Parish Presidents to provide oversight and policy guidance of the workforce development system while mapping a strategic 4-year plan. The 4-year plan presents the strategic priorities for the operational framework under which the local workforce system will operate.

Our vision here in Acadiana with collaborative partners is to align our area with economic growth and prosperity.

• 1486 WIOA participants received career services
• 127 WIOA participants received career scholarships
• 245 WIOA participants received On-the-Job Training and Work Experience Opportunities
• 533 employers were assisted through WIOA services
• Fourth Planning District of Louisiana has a total of 242,771 employees, and the average hourly wage is $22.38
• The unemployment rate is 2.90%
